Damn...

At first this one reminds me of a sound similar to Concord Dawn... very harsh and dark with a very fast and distinct beat that doenst change much. But as soon as it really picks up... the main effect you used starts to peak like crazy and drowns out the whole track with distortion. The rest of the song sounds pretty cool aside from this... I just cant hear it very well. I really like the piano like melody that goes on behind the chaos.

This track is cool and distinctly drum n bass. Only a few technical problems that make it sound a bit dull.

I like the pace

This would be great for a car chase or something. I like the pace a lot. The variation in the beat was nice but the melody was quite repetitive and simple. The second sample you used for it was a bit harsh as well. I like it better than most tracks I hear that include samples like this though.

Keep it up.

Very dark.

Sounds like something I might hear on bassdrive radio. It gets off to a slow start but after that... its gravy. This is a great example of a more modern hard drum n bass flavor. All I have to say in the negative is... it sounds like a lot of Dnb today and the ending was pretty sudden.

A really nice piece of dnb. Good work.

Break heavy.

This track seems a bit reliant on the heavy breakbeat feel and the sound-bites. What little melody it has is a bit hard to hear. Honestly this is what a lot of Dnb sounds like these days. Its rather repetitive but has good flavor. In my opinion it borders on sounding like a lot of Dnb ive heard in the past. Just certain samples and bits.

It was enjoyable and I like it more than not. The last minute is indeed a nice change of pace and a nice touch.

Some nice work.

At first I thought...

At first I thought this was just another of the thousands of simple fruityloops tracks. Though the samples are really really basic... the melody is kinda catchy and it isnt composed half bad. My biggest gripe is the beat. It keeps the pace well but its way to simple and doesnt change enough or have enough depth to be Dnb.

Even though its basic for my taste I kinda like it. Id suggest trying to get ahold of some samples packs and move away from the basic electronic sounding stuff that comes with fruityloops.

Catchy

This reminds me of the band Roxy Music. Its nice and simple... rather relaxing. Would indeed be great for menus even though it doesnt loop.

Im thinking it being simple is a good thing in this case... though it feels more like straight electronica than drum n bass to me.

Overall I like the melodies and how you composed it. Its got great feel. Good job.

Thanks, I hope to see more reviews from you!

Hmm...

I just cant place where ive heard this melody before... but im sure I have. Though... it is an ok loop. In my opinion it isnt drum n bass.

Originality aside... the piece doesnt encompass much more than the simple beat. It isnt a bad job. It gets a feeling across.

aplen22 responds:

i can't place where i heard it before too, cuz i made it up. don't worry, my music is 100% original :)

Well...

Pretty much the whole track is off beat and doesnt sync up with the melody. VMs loop seems a tad quiet as well. That drum loop at the end was a nice one though. Its ok effort... needs a ton of work.

Nice effect

As the pieces come together in the intro they seem to come together off beat. The drums are a bit generic but its not a bad beat. The melody style is distinctly electronica... but then the guitar strumming melody comes in for a great effect. Honestly I would have liked to hear some further elaboration on the guitar melody ( it just repeats over and over). Aside from the intro, the track is composed well and the idea behind it is strong. In my opinion it borders on not being Dnb though. This is a great effort... but im thinking this one needs some distinct flavor to keep it from sounding to simple or generic. A lot of the samples used will sound really familiar to a seasoned electronica/techno (in general) listener.

Love the sound-bite at the very end.

Good work. Keep at it.

GangsterRapper responds:

I was meant to say it doesn't.

Good techno

I think this is more along the lines of traditional techno and not so much drum n bass. It seems like you put a lot of effort into the melodies and not so much into the beat. The beat is nice... but a bit simple. Maybe its just me but I think your samples sound a bit generic... just a tad 80s club. You have a way with melody and the ambience that comes in toward the middle of the track is quite nice... one of my favorite things to hear in fact.

You obviously do good work... though I would like to hear you elaborate on the almost boringly simple samples youve used. Dont get me wrong... I like this track.

Keep it up =).

Gillenium responds:

Yeah I don't like the precussion either. That's why I don't make much technoey type stuff. Although I love the samples. Come on, man! 80s club is awesome! Thanks for the review

I make breakbeat/drum n bass style music using Fruityloops, Cool Edit, mostly free or custom made samples, and my inability to focus on anything else. I believe in detailed constructive critisism. Advice is infinitly more useful than praise or scorn.
