Catchy

This reminds me of the band Roxy Music. Its nice and simple... rather relaxing. Would indeed be great for menus even though it doesnt loop.

Im thinking it being simple is a good thing in this case... though it feels more like straight electronica than drum n bass to me.

Overall I like the melodies and how you composed it. Its got great feel. Good job.

Kevalot-Darkstorm responds:

Thanks, I hope to see more reviews from you!

Hmm...

I just cant place where ive heard this melody before... but im sure I have. Though... it is an ok loop. In my opinion it isnt drum n bass.

Originality aside... the piece doesnt encompass much more than the simple beat. It isnt a bad job. It gets a feeling across.

aplen22 responds:

i can't place where i heard it before too, cuz i made it up. don't worry, my music is 100% original :)

Nice effect

As the pieces come together in the intro they seem to come together off beat. The drums are a bit generic but its not a bad beat. The melody style is distinctly electronica... but then the guitar strumming melody comes in for a great effect. Honestly I would have liked to hear some further elaboration on the guitar melody ( it just repeats over and over). Aside from the intro, the track is composed well and the idea behind it is strong. In my opinion it borders on not being Dnb though. This is a great effort... but im thinking this one needs some distinct flavor to keep it from sounding to simple or generic. A lot of the samples used will sound really familiar to a seasoned electronica/techno (in general) listener.

Love the sound-bite at the very end.

Good work. Keep at it.

GangsterRapper responds:

I was meant to say it doesn't.

Good techno

I think this is more along the lines of traditional techno and not so much drum n bass. It seems like you put a lot of effort into the melodies and not so much into the beat. The beat is nice... but a bit simple. Maybe its just me but I think your samples sound a bit generic... just a tad 80s club. You have a way with melody and the ambience that comes in toward the middle of the track is quite nice... one of my favorite things to hear in fact.

You obviously do good work... though I would like to hear you elaborate on the almost boringly simple samples youve used. Dont get me wrong... I like this track.

Keep it up =).

Gillenium responds:

Yeah I don't like the precussion either. That's why I don't make much technoey type stuff. Although I love the samples. Come on, man! 80s club is awesome! Thanks for the review

Whoa.

On the technical side... your volumes and levels are way too high. This is a very loud and harsh piece. Right away I like the melody but im sure ive heard it somewhere before. This track would sound right at home in a club setting if its rough edges were toned down and the deep bass were made more central. The guitar that comes in toward the middle has a great effect. This song is distinctly dnb with great guitar flavor. My main gripes are pretty much about the mastering.

Not bad work... keep it up.

The-Tasteless-Saga responds:

I totally agree with you. I don't think this was master compressed or anything. The volumes are fucked. Honestly, this was somthing I put together fairly quickly and was going to discard until I thought, hmmm, newgrounds eh? It was kinda like a test submission which I would rather take down because I dont like shit floating around unfinished with my name on it. yea, Obviously it needs a deep, more protruding bassline.. meh, like I said.. it was a slap together but I can't seem to be able to take it down now. Thanks a lot for taking the time to review and explain your rating anyways. whats with the fucks that give me a 0 and move right on... bah, sorry to vent on you :P

A very classic feel.

My only problems with this one... the first beat seems to come in at the wrong time... off rythm with the melody. I also think you might have gone a bit overboard with the phasing of the melody from channel to channel... it seems to stick to the right channel for a good portion of the track and really slowly fade to the center. Aside from these finer points the track is pretty badass. I like the beats alot, though I would have liked to hear some variations in them. The ambient melody is very simple and nice though maybe a bit too crisp. I enjoyed the e-bass melodies. Everything seems to tie together for quite a pleasing piece of classic dnb. Good work.

Viewtiful-Masta responds:

Ravey.

This borders on full blown trance. Its a good sounding track and would definitely sound good in a club setting. Only problems I have with this one would be its almost "generic" ravey sound... mostly in the area of the samples used. It might be a bit long winded... but then again this genre does that a lot. Nice work all around. A few parts remind me of a tune from the mortal kombat film.

PERVOK responds:

Thanks for the review... but why such a low part on the diversity?
I took riffs that i could have easily made 3 songs from, but i stuck them in here instead.

Hmm

This would be good for a companies intro logo or something... possibly an opener for a webpage.

Evoluti9nx3 responds:

seriously? i thought it rly sucked but hey, i gues it does a little...

Kick ass drums indeed.

The best part by far is the beat. Classicly drum n bass. And being this type of drum n bass... the tracks harshness is forgivable. Good use of beat variation and switching up the different elements of the melody.

My only gripe is the sudden fade out. Didnt expect it.

AznPB responds:

Meh. I didn't exactly add to API's song and I didn't want to drag it on, you know? If you really want to keep on listening, I always say, turn on your 'repeat' feature. XD

An ok dnb remix.

First of all the melodys timing is off which causes friction with the beat. The first beat is a little harsh and off the shelf. You used the amen break well enough for the second half.

I would recommend giving the melody some effects so it can stand out a little better. The drum just needs equalized... it sounds grungy like the amen break does initially. The sound bite bugs me. It has no effect and you can hear a small part of the movies soundtrack with it.

This isnt a bad track... I just like to critique things... a lot.

WizardSleeve responds:

and i have muchos respect for anyone who actually reviews like this.

I hope that you will review some of my new tracks that I will be uploaded over the next few days as I can only upload 2 a day but its alot better than this older stuff.. the best one i will upload is called EAT THIS, so i hope you can review that one. Thanks for your time

I make breakbeat/drum n bass style music using Fruityloops, Cool Edit, mostly free or custom made samples, and my inability to focus on anything else. I believe in detailed constructive critisism. Advice is infinitly more useful than praise or scorn.
